Te Matapihi Trust is the national peak body for Māori housing, driving system change through strategic engagement, thought leadership, and advocacy. The Trust operates with integrity, aroha, and mana motuhake, working closely with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations, and government partners.

Te āhua o Te Tūranga - The nature of the position

This is a newly created, hybrid role for an experienced Executive Support and Communications Administrator to work alongside the Chief Executive - a rare and rewarding opportunity for someone who moves confidently between 2 worlds.

You will provide high-level executive support to the CEO, manage travel and calendar coordination, and lead the organisation’s communications across digital channels.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be the go-to for internal and external communications - drafting pānui, publishing engaging social media content, supporting stakeholder engagement, and preparing key briefings and documents. You’ll bring a strong grounding in te reo me ōna tikanga, along with the agility to adapt as priorities evolve.

Ngā Kawenga Matua - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day executive support to the CEO, including diary management, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.
  • Lead the development and delivery of social media strategy and campaigns across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Draft internal and external communications, including pānui and stakeholder updates.
  • Support stakeholder engagement, ensuring cultural integrity and appropriate tikanga is upheld.
  • Integrate te reo me ōna tikanga into communication and operational activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion at all times.
  • Contribute to special projects and offer general administration support as needed.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako - Key skills and experience required:

  • Preferred fluency in te reo me ōna tikanga in professional settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in executive support, administration, or communications roles.
  • Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and digital engagement tools.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Tech-savvy with experience using MS Office, Canva, Teams, and content scheduling tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally as required.
  • Positive, loyal, and proactive attitude - you get things done and keep things moving!
