As Operations Manager, you will oversee safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of all operational contracts within your area. Your mahi will directly influence team culture, client satisfaction, financial performance, and the quality of the environments we steward. We are seeking someone who not only has proven operational and leadership qualities but also has a cultural capacity to embrace the practice of kaitiakitanga (trusteeship, guardianship and protection) on the Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau (Ancestral Mountains/volcanoes of Auckland). Your connection will bring invaluable insight and authenticity to your mahi.

What this role includes:

  • Leading day-to-day operations to ensure services are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, councils, suppliers, and community partners.
  • Managing budgets, forecasting, reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Embedding strong safety practices and ensuring every team member goes home safe each day.
  • Coaching, supporting, and developing your team to build capability and drive high performance.
  • Supporting new business opportunities, pricing, and mobilisation of new contracts.
  • Leading and managing operations across the Tūpuna Maunga Authority contract, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.  
  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, iwi, and community partners. 
  • Supporting, mentoring, and developing your team, fostering a culture of care and accountability. 
  • Overseeing budgets, contracts, and compliance to ensure operational and financial performance. 
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation in how we serve our people and environment.  

Ngā Pūmanawa | What You’ll Bring

  • At least five years’ experience in operations management, contract delivery, facilities, or service environments.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and financial performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building positive, high-performing teams.
  • The ability to engage confidently with clients, councils, partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • A solid understanding of health, safety, and compliance obligations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in busy or fast-changing environments.
  • A calm, solutions-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in operations, facilities, open spaces, or horticulture related sectors. 
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing and supporting diverse teams. 
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect across cultures and communities. 
  • Commercial and contractual management experience. 
  • Genuine support of whakapapa with the ability to bring that perspective into decision-making and leadership.
