Location: Te Kao, Te Hiku o Te Ika (Far North)

  • 2 year fixed-term contract, full-time (based in Te Kao, Far North).

We are seeking a values-driven General Manager with strong financial expertise and a deep respect for tikanga Māori to lead our operations, drive commercial growth, and uphold our cultural integrity. Whether you are Māori or non-Māori, what matters most is your understanding of our values, your commitment to our vision, and ability to deliver results in a kaupapa Māori environment.

Ngā Kawenga Matua - Key Responsibilities

As General Manager, you will:

  • Lead the strategic, commercial, and operational direction of the Incorporation.
  • Develop and implement a three-year strategic plan in collaboration with the Committee of Management and stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess new business opportunities, particularly in horticulture and sustainable enterprise.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, reporting, and investment decisions.
  • Build a high-performing, culturally grounded team and organisational culture.
  • Ensure operational excellence across farming, forestry, and apiculture. 
  • Represent Pārengarenga Incorporation with mana among shareholders, iwi, hapū, business partners, and government.
  • Uphold compliance with legal, environmental, and governance standards.
  • Champion Pārengarenga’s vision, values, and intergenerational legacy.

Ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia ana | What you’ll bring to the role

  • Proven executive leadership experience (CEO or GM level), ideally in primary industries such as farming or forestry.
  • Strong financial knowledge and commercial judgement.
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style grounded in integrity and humility.
  • Experience delivering business growth and operational excellence.
  • Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Respect for tikanga Māori and a genuine connection to kaupapa Māori values.
  • Te reo Māori proficiency is a bonus, but not essential.
