Job Description

Tourism Operations & Business Support

  • Independent Contractor role.
  • Central-fringe Auckland | Approximately 25–30 hours per week, generally across 3 days and based on-site.
  • A competitive contractor rate will be negotiated with the successful person, reflecting experience, capability and the level of contribution you can bring to the business.

TIME Unlimited is an award-winning Auckland tourism business with more than 20 years of experience creating exceptional visitor experiences across Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa.

We are looking for a capable, experienced and highly organised operations professional to become a trusted part of our small, committed team.

TIME Unlimited is also entering an exciting new chapter. Alongside our established tourism experiences, we are increasingly focused on creating more immersive and hosted experiences grounded in indigenous values, mātauranga Māori, regenerative thinking, world-class hospitality and meaningful connections to people and place.

This is a hands-on operational role for someone who genuinely enjoys making things work well. You will manage bookings, coordinate experiences, stay on top of detail, solve problems, support customers and trade partners, improve systems and make sure nothing falls through the gaps. Working closely with TIME Unlimited’s owner-directors, you will take ownership of much of the day-to-day operational detail, allowing them to focus on key business relationships, partnerships, strategy and the future growth of the business.

While operational excellence is at the heart of the position, there will also be opportunities for the right person to contribute ideas, improve systems and help build the operational capability required for TIME Unlimited’s next stage.

The Position

You will become one of the people the business can rely on to keep things moving.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing bookings, enquiries, amendments and special requests.
  • Communicating with customers, trade partners and suppliers.
  • Coordinating tours, hosted experiences, VIPs, groups, MICE and incentive movements.
  • Checking itineraries, manifests, timings and operational requirements.
  • Liaising with guides, hosts, drivers, attractions, accommodation providers and other suppliers.
  • Maintaining accurate booking, customer and operational information.
  • Following enquiries, actions and opportunities through to completion.
  • Supporting day-to-day business administration.
  • Identifying gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities to improve how things are done.
  • Helping maintain an organised, professional and welcoming working environment.
  • Supporting projects and wider business priorities as required.

This is a varied role within a small business. Some days will involve complex tourism logistics and international customers; others may involve straightforward administration or simply pitching in wherever the team needs support.

The hours will generally be worked across approximately 3days per week, with some flexibility around operational requirements, peak periods and special projects.

What Makes Someone Successful at TIME Unlimited?

Technical capability matters, but how you work matters just as much. You have a strong work ethic, notice the details and follow through on commitments. You ask good questions and take responsibility without needing constant direction, while being comfortable seeking clarity when you need it. You can manage multiple moving parts without losing sight of the small things. When plans change, you stay calm, adapt quickly and find a solution.

You naturally look for ways to improve how things are done rather than simply identifying problems. Most importantly, you understand that in a small, successful tourism business, exceptional customer experiences are created by people behind the scenes who genuinely care about the quality of the outcome.

In Addition, You’ll Bring

  • Solid operational and/or administration experience, ideally gained within tourism, travel, hospitality or another customer-focused service environment.
  • Experience with bookings, reservations, itinerary coordination or travel logistics would be highly regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-developed communication skills.
  • Confidence working with customers, trade partners, suppliers and business systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, commercial awareness and sound judgement.
  • Initiative, personal accountability and the ability to work independently within a small, owner-led business.
  • A genuine commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • An appreciation of Aotearoa, te reo me ōna tikanga Māori and authentic cultural experiences.

Experience in inbound tourism, DMC, MICE, premium or luxury tourism, Māori tourism or experiential travel would be particularly valuable

The Person We’re Hoping to Meet

You may already have considerable professional experience and be looking for greater flexibility and balance in your working week. Perhaps you are seeking meaningful work that fits alongside whānau or other commitments, or simply no longer want the structure of a traditional five-day working week.

Whatever  your circumstances, we are looking for someone who wants to settle into the role, build trust and become a valued, long-term member of the TIME Unlimited team.

You do not need to be looking for the next title or promotion to make an impact. What matters is that you take pride in what you do, enjoy being relied upon and genuinely want to contribute to the success of the business.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced owner-led team, play a meaningful role in an established Auckland tourism business and contribute to an exciting new phase of the company’s development.
